The Iqaluit Humane Society Mandates
The Iqaluit Humane Society mandates are to assist the City of Iqaluit with its overwhelming dog overpopulation problem and to find loving homes for as many unwanted pets as possible. We try to achieve this goal through community education, foster care programs, adoptions, temporary shelter, pet sponsorships and the Ottawa / Iqaluit Transfer program.
In addition to assisting our community with its animal overpopulation issues, our aim is to also raise community awareness about the humane treatment and proper care of domestic animals. This is a very challenging task given our remote location, limited animal care facilities and resources available in Nunavut.
